Comments : I had a house fire and the only grief I have had has been dealings with NRMA. I've had to fight for just about everything all the way. they insinuated that I was trying to make a false claim, expected me to loose time from work to let carpenters into the house to measure up when the builders where working on repairs and had the house unlocked. they expected me to go out of town to chose carpets when there was an approved NRMA carpenter in town (even after I explained that I work six full days a week, but this made no difference to them). I'm single, so no one else could go and choose. I had to argue to get them to pay for the electricity that the builders used to do the repairs. I also had to argue. I had to also argue to get rent for additional rent for the temporary accommodation I had to move into. the fire was at the end June 2008. I moved back into the premises after about 18 weeks. its now February 2009 at the matter still isn't finalised. in short I have found the people from NRMA to be very rude and hard to get along with

Comments : I can't really rate our insurer as thankfully we haven't had to claim on anything. But my heart does go out to you and I hope you get enough complaints to be able to do something about these a---holes, sorry, but that is what they are. I bet you have paid for you house twice over with your mortgage interest and what you have paid in insurance, in which you are made to have in order to get a home loan in the first place, you think because NRMA is such a big company, you would be on a good thing. Maybe we all need to retrain our thoughts and sometimes go with the underdog. I really haven't an answer. It is all about money these days, pure and utter greed.
This probably hasn't helped you much, sorry about that, but just thought I would have my say, and wish you and your family all the best in your endeavour.

I'm with you 100% I may not have had the difficulties with an insurance company such as you've had, but I'm incredibly disliking of injustice and I'll give you my full support and help in any way I can.
Make sure you keep me updated cause when I'm at work I have no access to here anc so can't read blogs etc.
Fighting for what you believe in and being proactive in walking yourself through hard times and feelings is the only way to go so I believe in what your partner is doing too.

Please tell him I wish both he and you all the luck in the world............Love Kim xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Reny,
Thanks for responding. I do feel for folk like yourself.
It's a pity that those who voted to have the NRMA de-mutualised, have really killed a great organisation. It's like privatising Telstra etc. What a mess that is in as well!
Any company that places shareholders ahead of customers, have real issues for the rest of us. I feel, that is what the NRMA is now doing.
My claims were only in the tens of thousands, not what you must be going through. They did not involve shoddy repairs.
I live on the North Coast.
Again, I wish you well and you have success with your issues, but you wouldn't want to hold your breath waiting.
Regards... Garry.
