Home Insurance
With my experience and the experiences of many of the NRMA customers, we feel these are the best words one can use to describe the level of Home Insurance offered by NRMA.
Today's question is when do the goliaths like the NRMA stop ripping off their customers with insurance claims, whenever we have Natural Disasters. NOW is the time to re-evaluate your insurance coverage and re-consider who you insure with before its to late
Please spare a thought for those in Victoria who have suffered so much this year and the possibility they may yet suffer at the hands of their insurer.

Australian Red Cross
With the crisis of the world economy we also face the environment fighting back for all we have done wrong to mother nature, on top of this we have had deliberate fires lit in Victoria that has caused so much pain and hardship for those who live there.

Even in these hard times we can stand proud as Australians and open our hearts and wallets and give to those more in need without any selfish thoughts. I am proud to be Australian in these times.
Many Australians are only just making ends meet with all the rising costs of living as well as recent sky rocketing interest rates that hit many families hard some of whom lost their homes.
Many of those who suffered losses in the Victorian fires had no insurance due to hardship. Those who are insured may yet suffer further hardship at the mercy of their insurer. We all heard the early whispers in the news papers that stated "some Home Insurance Policies" may not have valid claims due to the fires being deliberate. Yet another loop hole for our insurers to use to walk away from their moral obligations. Spare a thought for any of those victims insured by any of IAG brands and hope they are not forced to accept cash settlements, like some have stated on their websites.

Forums now exist debating if we should even help those who have lost their homes in this tragic event, by using the money donated by the people of Australia for that reason to help those in need. The question being debated is, "Why should we help those who had no Home Insurance?". "WHAT" they should be asking and debating is, "What is the true value of our insurance policy during a natural disaster?", the answer is $0 because insurers like the
NRMA can twist and manipulate their claims, based on the wordings of their policy, leaving you standing to loose all.

This link will take you to the currant forum Should we help the Victims

I have been in contact with my local MP and even Senator the Hon John Faulkner, who referred me to one Hon Chris Bowen MP. Minister for Competition Policy and Consumer Affairs, only to be informed that companies like the NRMA and the Ombudsman can literally do as they so please. I was told Home Insurance is a private contract and one must seek independent legal council. Not a problem if you are wealthy as you can't even claim the legal costs.

Have you made a previous Home Insurance claims in the past with the NRMA. Ask yourself what kind of claim was it?, was your claim a simple fire? or some unfortunate accident?, was yours the only claim in your area?. Now ask yourself what would happen if your area was struck by a natural disaster and thousands of claims were lodged for Home Insurance, how would the NRMA respond to your claim. Do you know anyone who is insured with NRMA or any of IAG brands, ask them how their claims went and was the end result good.

I am just a person living in the Hunter region of New South Wales. My families life has been turned up side down, not just by the devastating June 2007 storms but further more by the corrupt claims handling process of the
NRMA Home Insurance.

I have created this website as a forum for all to speak out in the hope that one day with the support from the public, we can force changes and get new laws introduced to protect the consumer as not one law exists to protect us with General Insurance.

With natural disasters becoming more and more frequent, what will your insurer the NRMA do?, when you lodge your claim. Take the time read some of the stories and blogs found on the Internet. Stories we seldom get to hear of through the media because the NRMA have too much influence over the media, as well as taking legal actions to silence the press.

Have you been a loyal customer of the NRMA Home Insurance for years and never made a claim and what does this kind of loyalty mean to the NRMA, Absolutely Nothing that's right, loyalty is an excuse to charge more and reduce the level of services.

Loyalty means very little to the NRMA. Take the time to read Les and Linda’s story found on the Internet. What did? 30 years of loyalty without one single claim on their
NRMA Home Insurance buy them from the NRMA, and how the NRMA left some $30,000.00 out of pocket from the Canberra Bushfires on what has become known as "ASH WEDNSDAY". Nice way to enjoy a peaceful retirement, thank you NRMA.

Lets go further into LOYALTY with the NRMA. We are "NOT" just talking about NRMA Home Insurance, we are talking about NRMA CTP Green Slip's, NRMA Car Insurance and all other Insurance Products offered by the NRMA (IAG). Have you got all your policies with the NRMA and how do they reward you for this.

I have seen first hand with CTP Green Slips not just with the NRMA, but other insurance companies. People have saved from $40.00 and up to $230.00 just by taking out a new CTP Greens Slip with the same insurer. This is how your insurer rewards loyalty by upping the premium hoping you will trust they have looked after you with the best price for years of loyalty. As recently seen on TV, one company Rate City have done the research on CTP Green Slips, and stated on national TV how insurers are ripping off loyal customers, take the time and click on their link.  Rate City

"NOW" consider how many Home Insurance claims get lodged in every natural disaster with the NRMA or any of the underlying insurers, under the IAG banner.

Lets do the exercise, say 10,000 claims are lodged and some $30,000 to $50,000 is shaved off every Home Insurance claim. This equates to some $300,000,000 to $500,000,000 saved by the NRMA on forced cash settlements. These so called cash settlements are forced upon us until we break financially and finally except their terms and conditions. After this we engage builders only to learn we are left tens of thousands short to complete repairs, with no legal come back on the insurer. One only has to look at the 2007 storms that devastated the Newcastle area, over 20,000 claims were lodged with insurers.

The NRMA have several builders on their pay roll, builders that never carry out repairs, they just carry out quotes reducing repair costs by tens of thousands. These builders even under cut the cost of the the NRMA builders quotes. The big question here is how much do the NRMA pay these so called builders for their service?, do the NRMA pay them commissions on top of their fees?, and are they based on how much money they save the insurer by supplying fictitious quotes at a reduced amount. We will never KNOW, what we do know is our premiums continue to rise while the level of service declines.

A cash settlement is well and good if you own your home; there is a chance to rebuild based on a reduced cash settlement as a home owner builder. But if you have a mortgaged like most of us do, you stand to loose all, as was in my case. This is why I gave the name "
Never Rape Me Again" to the NRMA. See my link above to my story.

In recent talks with my council member I have been informed that most Insurance companies will no longer be covering flood damage, and even refused to sit with council members for discussions.

Don't be fooled by loyalty read the blogs and articles of loyal customers and their treatment by the NRMA. Research your policy terms and conditions. If you are unhappy with your NRMA Home Insurance Policy coverage change your insurer and tell them why. There are some very good policies that cover you for everything, and this action alone will send a clear message to the NRMA and other insurers, that we do care how we are treated and covered under our Home Insurance policy by the NRMA or any other brands sold under (IAG).

NRMA Home Insurance have stated in some of these blogs, that most home owners are under insured, and yet they slice off tens of thousands on the insured value claiming the homes can be repaired for a lesser value. GET IT RIGHT NRMA which is it to be. "DO NOT" base your insurance on price alone but on the quality of the Home Insurance package and inclusions.

NRMA Insurances have fast become the number one leading insurer for complaints, as seen on many professional sites. I have spent hundreds of hours on the web researching so please take the time to read the articles and blogs and make a wise choice on your insurances.

Have a story please contact me, tell all your freinds and family.
